Come and embrace the Spirit at Congregational Church of the Chimes! We are a community of Christian believers and seekers who explore and embrace life’s great questions, even when we don’t have all the answers.

The cornerstone of our beliefs is the covenant that was originally owned by the congregation in Salem Massachusetts in 1636.

We covenant with the Lord, and one with another; and do bind ourselves in the presence of God,
to walk together in all His ways according as He is pleased to reveal Himself unto us in His
      blessed word of Truth.

When you join our Church, you own this covenant, which is a solemn promise to share in the spiritual journey to which we are all called.

There are three core values that are at the center of what we believe at Congregational Church of the Chimes.

Congregational Church of the Chimes is a free church. We are not a creedal church with a detailed blueprint of belief. The primary authority of our church is Jesus Christ. We begin with and build upon the Bible, but we trust the informed conscience of the individual to determine the way he or she will understand and implement Christ’s command to love and serve God and neighbor. We pledge our commitment to one another as we travel a common journey.

Members have the individual responsibility to discover what God expects of them as they live out their faith day to day. On matters of religious freedom, we impose no creedal barriers, and ask only that the love of God and humanity, and a discipleship to Jesus Christ, bind our members.

As a group, we have an interwoven corporate responsibility to ensure that each member has the support he or she needs to continue to grow in faith. Although we may disagree with one another about certain religious beliefs, we maintain an openness to allow individuals to express their viewpoints.

In matters of church operations and administration, our Church is self-governing and exercises shared leadership, electing boards and committee representatives and planning our overall ministry.

Although we are autonomous in governance, we do not live in isolation. The tie that binds us is fellowship on all levels.  That includes activities and programs within our own church as well as within our local community – we are members of the Valley Interfaith Council (VIC-LA), the North Hollywood Interfaith Food Pantry (NHIFP), and the Sherman Oaks Chamber of Commerce. We are proud of the programs, groups and organizations within the church as well as our service and outreach to those in need.

We are members of and support both the Cal-West Association of Congregational Churches, and the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches (NACCC).

No matter who you are, no matter where you are on life’s journey, there is a place for you here at the Congregational Church of the Chimes. You are welcome here!
